Jan 7th, Wednesday: Matthew 7-8

We will read about judges.

One of the easiest ways to cover our sins is to judge others.

It is not wrong to exercise discernment, but we must start with ourselves.

We will read about pilgrims.

The gate into real life is narrow and the way is difficult, so don't try to carry a lot of excess baggage.

False teachers make the way easy and popular.

If you truly follow Jesus, you pay a price. And the way sometimes becomes lonely.

We will be reading about trees.

Life produces fruit. And good trees produce good fruit.

There was a great deal of profession in the lives of the scribes and Pharisees, but no evidence of spiritual fruit.

You not only have to talk the talk, but you've got to walk the walk.

And if you're not walking the walk, your talk is hollow and cheap. And people know it.

We'll read about builders who build on the rock. It means to obey the Word of God.

Saying is not enough - there must be doing.

If you claim to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, expect to be tested in this life.

Fair-weather faith will not pass the test.

In Matthew 8, we'll read about the fact that God can meet every need.

Nothing is too hard for the Lord.

You cast every care on Him – that's what he wants you to do, you know.

Cast all your cares on Him, for he cares for you.
