And we'll read about the Servant who comes to us.
Jesus went through a storm to get to two demoniacs.
These demoniacs needed His help and He got to them.
The demons begged not to be sent to the Pit.
The citizens begged Jesus to leave.
And one healed man begged to be allowed to go with Jesus.
There was a lot going on here.
The citizens were concerned more with financial profit than with spiritual benefit.
Imagine asking Jesus to leave you (!)
We can come to the Servant.
All kinds of people came to the feet of Jesus.
A well known synagogue leader and an anonymous sick woman could find help there.
Perhaps the woman's faith was a bit superstitious, but the Lord still honoured it.
Isn't great news to learn to know that you don't have to get it completely right.
He's merciful and graces, our Saviour and Lord.
If you cannot grasp His hand - well, touch the hem of His garment.
The first step of faith, no matter how weak will lead to greater blessing.
Remember, there are a thousand ways to please God, but not one without faith.
We'll learn here that the Servant will go with us.
No situation is so desperate that Jesus cannot work.
Disease, delays and even death are under His control.
Jesus goes with you to the place of disappointment and sorrow, and meets your needs.
No matter how depressing your situation may appear, do not be afraid - only believe.
The Servant is working for you.
The Servant cannot work.
His neighbours were amazed at what Jesus said and did.
But Jesus was amazed at their unbelief, that would not let Him do more.
Our Lord's response to their unbelief was to send out His disciples to minister.
Herod silenced one voice, but he could not silence the Word of God.
There have been powerful governments throughout generations that tried to stamp out the Word of God.
Indeed it tried to stamp out God's people.
If you can stamp out the Jewish people, then that would prove that God really did not exist.
But of course He does exist, and the Jewish people survived - even the horror of the Holocaust.
Throughout the ages, there have been those who tried to stamp out God's Word.
Isn't is amazing that the God of love would be so feared by power-hungry men, who are only going to live here a very short time anyway?
Nothing, and no one will ever silence the Word of God.
The Word says that even, 'heaven and earth shall pass away, but My Word will stand forever.'
That's a promise that you can count on!
The Servant cannot rest.
God's servants become weary as they work and must care for the body.
But when you have a compassionate heart, you will not have a idle hand.
Our Lord interrupted His vacation to meet the needs of the people.
He need not interrupt anything today, because caring for us is His constant ministry.
The Servant cannot pray.
After such a demanding time of ministry, Jesus had to go apart to pray.
But once again, He was interrupted - this time by the plight of His disciples in the midst of the sea.
And it was the disciples who were amazed.
Jesus intercedes for you, and knows your situation.
He will come to you, care for you, and lead you into His peace.
